Commercial Description:
A silver medal winner at the 2002 SIBA South East Regional Competition. A traditional style beer with all English hops and a good bitterness balanced by Maris Otter malts from Wiltshire and Suffolk. This beer is named in memory of the brewer’s father, who was the lock-keeper at Whitchurch-on-Thames, and sometimes nick-named Mr Chubb.

[on draught at Lyndhurst Ale House, Reading] An old school bitter - brown with a long lasting beige head. Deep earthy bitterness dominates with some malt. Bitterness grows to obliterate everything else & leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.

Bottle from Wickcroft farm shop Reading. Pours a deep chestnut colour with a thin white head. Plenty of fruit and malt in the aroma. The beer is fruity and malty with plenty of hops. The aftertaste is very dry. Will have to try the cask version again.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Racehorse, Northampton. A light amber coloured beer with a whitish head. There are grassy hops in the nose. Fairly dry and bitter with a little bit more grass. Pretty quaffable. Should have less alcohol to be truly a lunchtime bitter.

Cask, Kingdom of Fife BF 07. Chestnut with a thin white head. Aroma is nice and malty at first, then becomes sulphuric. Flavour is slightly bready organic, with a sour hop tinge. Palate lasts with breadiness, some bitterness
