Beer_Rules (237), San Marcos, Texas, USA Aug 11, 2005 Color is light for a maerzen. It has a kind of musty, floral aroma. A quite dry maltiness dominates my tasting. The mouthfeel is smooth and gentle, making this brew easy to drink. The other maerzens Ive had were better in my opinion, but this beer is certainly not bad. biz82 (1307), austin, Texas, USA Jun 12, 2005 On the light side for the style. Nice thick rocky white head. Sharp and sulphery aroma with some pungent hops and malt. Tart and sweet with a fair amount of bitterness. Lacking in complex malt and caramel flavors IMO. KAggie97 (1884), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Mar 18, 2005 More of an English pale ale than a marzen oktoberfest, this one is not bad. The malt is definitely pronounced, with the hops taking a backseat. Respectable, but not extraordinary. bu11zeye (3628), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 17, 2004 (Bottle) Pours a clear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of flowers, perfume, spuce, and mustiness. Metallic finish. austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA Sep 3, 2004 Thanks to Fly and JoeT for bringing this to me in NYC. An interesting German Okto that’s relatively true to style. Fairly dry, crisp and appropriately bitter for the style. Perhaps needs more malt for the style and less dry Kolschness. OK.
