JulienHuxley (193), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada Nov 19, 2009 Bottle. Reddish brown pour with off white head. Maraschino cherry and chocolate aromas. Relatively sweet, chocolatey taste a wee bit of alcohol. Decent mouthfeel. Overall very solid. fugitive (22), Athens, Greece Nov 19, 2009 33cl bottle. Very good Dubbel. Brown beer with creamy white head. Slightly sweet with hints of caramel and chocolat. Well balanced taste from start to finish. proesti (53), Lille Nord, France Nov 14, 2009 Great brown beer with creamy mousse on top of it. Nose is malty with hints caramel and some chocolat. taste is soft, elegant and malty with hints of fruits and caramel. Aftertaste is nice ant tasteful. Berley31 (185), New Brunswick, Canada Nov 14, 2009 A: Poured with a huge, rocky, creamy white head that stayed around for quite a long time before dissipating down to 1-2 fingers. Good lacing on the glass. Body is cloudy, and a dark brown/ruby color.
S: Nice aroma of average malt, with some molasses present. There’s a light trace of alcohol as well.
T: This is a very full-tasting beer... I can detect some chocolate, as well as some fruitiness that seems to include both cherries and grapes. The alcohol that I could smell is barely detectable in the flavor, other than maybe a very low warmth at the finish.
M: Medium-bodied and very creamy, with lively carbonation.
D: A damned-nice dubbel... wish I had access to it here. andersand (303), Malmö, Sweden Nov 13, 2009 Solid double. Brown with a small dense beige head. Very estery green appleish aroma with brown murky malt character. Body is refreshingly carbonated which lightens up a otherwise very dark, fat malty flavour with additional yeast esters creating a third flavour dimension. bedainedebiere (282), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada Nov 12, 2009 750 ml bottle, bottled in june 2009. Very complex and hard to fully describe taste... It is not sweet at first for sure, it is woody, leafy, fruity, slightly tongue-tingling and bitter, there is some distant tartness, yeast and some undistinct discreet spicyness. And a long finish. Wow, this is absolutely gorgeous, better than I thought it would be! Legendary! 22415brewery (65), redmond, Washington, USA Nov 10, 2009 Very good Dubbel, I echo the comments below, not the best dubbel out there but a very good one. Like most strong ales I prefer mine a bit warm, it brings out more of the phenols and some of the dark-cherry and prunish flavors. Can pour a bit hazy with a hint of raisin. Serving temp can make all the difference in the world.
