Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA May 29, 2009 Finally getting to rate this bad larry. The pour produces an opaque plum colour with a super frothy tan head that doesn’t fade. The nose is of candied plums, apple, heather, and brown sugar. The flavour is candy-sweet, with spicy bubblegum yeast, cantelope, and light alcohol zest. There are similar suggestions as in the nose, like plum and stuff. The mouthfeel is epicly smooth and shit, with a mega dry, medium-legnth finish. Dope!!!!!! MagnumPI (56), Essex, England May 25, 2009 BELATED BUM SWELL !
The bottle is better than the beer but still a fine brew. Complex dark smell and flavours, and extremely malty with a long dry taste. Certainly not a guzzler but one to sip and enjoy early in the evening. Beware on opening as it froths brown like an auburn ejaculation and has been known to break ones favourite Orval glass frantically trying to avoid beery groin
roebuck (44), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 25, 2009 Big Belgian head on this pour. Red brown in color. Yeasty but not overpowering. You can taste the 7% but it doesn’t take away from the beer. Great to sit and sip while watching the people walk by. Enjoyed in a bottle in Brussels, Belgium. petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA May 15, 2009 Why have I always overlooked this beer? With some age I could see this being fantastic. Rochefort like characteristics with a nice lingering fruity finish. Highly recommend this for a common Belgian or any beer for that matter. Wim (1278), Turnhout, Belgium May 10, 2009 darkbrown coloured body with a creamy off white head a yeasty spicy malty aroma a yeasty spicy malty little fruity taste with a fruity bitter finish nice one cexshun (57), Portage, Indiana, USA May 10, 2009 Humble nose or yeast, alcohol and dark cherries. Dark brown in color with tan creamy head. No lacing at all. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, and a surprising dark cherry finish that caught me off guard. Oddly reminds me of Dr. Pepper. Medium body in the mouth with a crisp finish. Overall, a good beer. Doesn’t excite me to try other Abbey Dubbels and isn’t quite the stand out. Would like it a little maltier. wkalle (110), Sweden May 9, 2009 Pours dark brown red with large fizzy head which gently settles into a dense almost golden head. Not much lacing though. Caramel, bread and yeast nose. Sweet malty toffee in flavor with a nice dry finish.
