I’m disappointed in the total lack of cap here, the body has such great color but just looks boring with no crown floating on top. Very sweet aroma, grape juice, touch of alcohol, some nice spiciness, and just maybe even a hint of citrus, the brew smells awesome. Flavor contains some oakiness, grape but the grape isn’t nearly as strong as in the aroma, the alcohol comes across fairly harsh but its hidden under the sweetness of the brew. Beer finishes with a touch of spice and some floral notes and comes across very light. Beer becomes way more smooth and maltier the closer to room temperature it gets compared to the 12 degrees it started at. Mouth feel felt surprisingly thin maybe even to thin. Beer is very tasty but still light and not to filling, I can see myself stalking one or two in the fridge at all times. Davros (213), Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Dark copper pour with ruby highlights. Off white, small, persistent head.
Aroma is amazing - sweet plums and red apples, some cloves, cinnamon, sweet caramel malt and a hint of chocolate.
Flavours are not as diverse - complex roasted malts with chocolate notes and some noticeable alcohol. Quite sweet up front but finishes rather dry.
Too much carbonation detracts from flavour! Otherwise quite enjoyable! savnac (407), Palmer, Alaska, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Bottle. Aroma is spicy, raisin, and caramel. Dark amber/brown with a thick off white head. Not as rich as I suspected, but has a medium sweetness and a typical Belgian sourness. Smooth mouth feel with a clean sweet finish and actively carbonated. This is a fantastic beer, just a bit lighter than other Dubbel’s in my opinion. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 29, 2009 Finally getting to rate this bad larry. The pour produces an opaque plum colour with a super frothy tan head that doesn’t fade. The nose is of candied plums, apple, heather, and brown sugar. The flavour is candy-sweet, with spicy bubblegum yeast, cantelope, and light alcohol zest. There are similar suggestions as in the nose, like plum and stuff. The mouthfeel is epicly smooth and shit, with a mega dry, medium-legnth finish. Dope!!!!!! MagnumPI (56), Essex, England

The bottle is better than the beer but still a fine brew. Complex dark smell and flavours, and extremely malty with a long dry taste. Certainly not a guzzler but one to sip and enjoy early in the evening. Beware on opening as it froths brown like an auburn ejaculation and has been known to break ones favourite Orval glass frantically trying to avoid beery groin

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2009 Big Belgian head on this pour. Red brown in color. Yeasty but not overpowering. You can taste the 7% but it doesn’t take away from the beer. Great to sit and sip while watching the people walk by. Enjoyed in a bottle in Brussels, Belgium. petematte46 (218), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 15, 2009 Why have I always overlooked this beer? With some age I could see this being fantastic. Rochefort like characteristics with a nice lingering fruity finish. Highly recommend this for a common Belgian or any beer for that matter. OliverG (83), montreal, Quebec, Canada

Par la suite, j’ai apprit a l’apprécier, mais je la trouve quand même surévaluée. Selon moi, elle manque de saveurs. Léger goût de caramel et de cassonade.
