DigitalMan (113), Idaho, USA Apr 23, 2009 Updated: Jul 8, 2009Re-rate: Carbonation in this bottle seemed normal. Flavor wasn’t very rich, kind of thin, even maybe lightly metallic. Very different than the previous sample. Mouthfeel was extremely fizzy. Alcohol not very noticeable, also different than before. Weird.

This might not have been a great sample. Carbonation was wildly out of control, dumping a ton of foam on my shirt and leaving a 5" head in the glass which took a looong time to settle. (Bottle was not agitated at all.) Alcohol smelled and tasted quite a bit over the 7% shown. Still, I liked this one. Mildly burnt sort of caramel/chocolate flavor. trayns (237), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA Apr 20, 2009 330ml bottle in Ghent on the river. Pours nice deep brown and red color with a large airy white head. Aroma is fruity and nutty, much like the taste. Flavor is compex, but the drink is surprisingly thin. Very good for an intro into Belgians floydian1 (255), FNQ, Australia Apr 18, 2009 330ml bottle into a Trappist glass at the Belgian Beer Cafe in Brisbane. A cloudy red-brown ale with a healthy off white head and nice lacing. Strong aromas of dried dark fruits, sugary caramel malts and subtle spices. Juicy fruit palate with a nice warming spicy yeasty finish. Medium-full bodied with a smooth drinkability. Recommended. zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2009 A nice amber color. Nice balance of hops & malt. Nice yeast presence. Almost “mild” in flavor. A little ;light on alcohol taste compared to other triples. Quite enjoyable Fred82 (340), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 16, 2009 33cl bottle, Big brown fluffy head. Nice looking beer. Aroma is fruity and sweet. Taste is fruity and sweet like aroma and has a small bitterness to it as well as a light hoppy finish. Less complexity compared to other trappists but it has a nice balance and is quite drinkable. Very enjoyable Rating #85 ChrisThomson (375), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 12, 2009 Another great belgain that I finally got around to rating. One of my favourite trappists, and my favourite Westmalle offering.Tasty beer with plum, raisin and nutty notes. Has mild hoppiness in the finish. MitchWayne (264), Kokkola, Finland Apr 10, 2009 Sweet and malty fruity dubbel with chocolate and raisins in the taste, nice dry end. A solid beer and sessionable too. Excellent!!
