Smell is raisin. Taste is thin, and bland raisins. Tart dark raisin like fruitiness and a touch of burnt bitterness as well. Medium to thin body and normal carbonation. davegore (201), liverpool, Merseyside, England

Aroma of raisins, prunes and (dark) chocolate with a citric note. The taste is that of ripe fruits, the roasted malt mixes with the lingering hop bitterness while the alcohol slightly tickles the tongue - without ever becoming annoying or even clearly noticeable. Simply a great experience. Ryan82SM (236), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Nice aroma of ripe apple, raisins and sugar cane. Reddish brown (duh) ale with nicely carbonated head. First impressions are a little vinegary, but the flavor evens out on the back end of the palate with sour apple, maybe some grapefruit, light clover and some caramel and brown sugar present. Finish is a bit more alcohol laden than expected. Good, but didn’t live up to the hype for me. jesperhammer (286), Copenhagen, Denmark

On opening the bottle it just bubbles out, and cannot be stopped, so I run for the glass.
Huge beige head on a brown body.
Very malty and not hoppy at all. chocolate, bread, caramel, Citrus.
Very good beer. Maybe I acctually underrate it because it is so available here? sja14 (105), Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Pours dark brown with tan head. Complex aroma, with sweet malt, milk chocolate, caramel, brown sugar and dark fruits - prune, raisin, plum. Also has a hint of alcohol and yeast on the nose. The flavour does not disappoint either, with dark chocolate, malt, prune, plum and alcohol strengthening each mouthful. There is a vanilla sweetness on the finish and a chocolate aftertaste. The malt brings with it a subtle bitterness which works well with the sweet flavours, and the carbonation brings through the strong dark fruit flavours for a well-balanced, complex beer.
