11.2 oz bottle at East Side B. Café in NYC - Pours a hazy brown with thin white head. Caramel malt aroma. Sharp hop bite up front with rich malt finish. Not much of an after taste. Low esters. Having had this brew in the café outside the abbey years ago, I was looking forward to having this again. This bottle had a lot to live up to. Sadly it could not compete against that chalice in Westmalle.

750mL bottle from Regional. Pours cloudy brown with a tan head. The head dissipates fully which is disappointing. Aroma is quite ’dark’ with dark fruits, caramel and slight spices. Taste is full of prune & raisin notes. Roast malt shows through and spices, caramel come with it. Medium bitterness, dry finish. Very nice.

Great dubbel! Aroma of carmelized brown sugar and dark ripe fruit. Taste to match, but with a slight hint of licorice and root beer. Dark ruby color, with the perfect tight egg shell colored head, about 1 inch, nicely laced. Not overly sweet.
