330 mL bottle, best by Jan. 23, 2010. Pours murky brown with an off-white head that subsides fairly quickly. Aroma is very strong, with sweet honey, caramel, cherry, dark fruit, and biscuit. Very promising. Flavor is equally sweet and dominated by honey and caramel flavors, with touches of cherry and grape as well as some light apple flavors. Strong carbonation. Finishes on a mild biscuit and raisin note. This is my new favorite dubbel.

Pours reddish-brown with mahogany hues around the edges and a light brown head. Aroma was very malty with a whiff of alcohol and the flavor was similar. The palate was nice. Lively on the tongue, smooth, and a long finish. Overall, though, seemed pretty average.

very nice opaque brown with a thick creamy light tan head...great retention and great lacing. mild prune aroma but mostly smells like new sneakers...thanks alot jeff. flavor has a slight sweetenss of caramel malt and a bit of prune with a leathery tasting finish. mouthfeel is very watery...not the silky outstanding dubbel i remebered from years ago. So disappointed...this used to be one of my favorites and is not at all what i remembered.

I will rerate this at some point... Pours a deep brown with a big head... Aroma reminds me a bit more of a doppelbock than that of a world famous dubbel... Caramel and dark fruits waft in and then, the scent that ruins the experience for me... New Sneaker smell... From that moment on all i smell and taste is new sneakers, i tried, i wrote down caramel, almost winelike in texture, slightly vinegarous(sour), but i kept coming back to New Sneakers... The bottle was most definitely not old, and kept in good temp for the duration... New sneakers, but based on the overall score of the most recent ratings, i’ve got to believe this has lost a bit of its luster

Pours a dark reddish orange with a tan small head. Aromas of sour green apples, caramel, spice, and vanilla. Tastes like plums, sour apples, cloves, malt, vanilla and a warming effect from the high alcohol content. Soft carbonation, what you would expect from a dubbel. A little boozy but still pretty nice.

Dark brown with two fingers of light tan head. Prune aroma, light but bready sweet malts. Tastes are sweet with a tingly carbonation, caramel, prunes, and a yeasty spiciness.
