jimel001 (34), Los Angeles, California, USA Nov 2, 2008 Definitely one of my favorite trappist beers and one of my favorites in general. Dark, fruity, tremendously smooth, and a great finish...this beer is worthy of further recommendation. PaulHegedus (458), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Nov 1, 2008 Bottle. Served cellar temperature. Pours dark reddish brown with a foaming, huge, long lasting head that settles into a short creamy coffee-like foam. The aroma has a lot of cherry, some alcohol, raisin, lighter milk chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium, with some tail end wateriness that is unfortunate. I taste chocolate, dark cherry, a hint of the raisin from the aroma. The alcohol seems well masked. Codythegreat (133), Carrollton, Georgia, USA Oct 29, 2008 I was never really a big fan of Abbey Ales but this was was pretty good. Pours a dark caramel colour and that’s all I remember because I had a lot to drink that day. I drank this out of a trappist glass. jfb (413), Weihenstephan, Germany Oct 29, 2008 Updated: Mar 16, 2009(bottle) pours a dark, ruby-brown colour with a huge frothy off-white head. aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, bread and vanilla, light hop spices and cassis. subtle flavour of roasted malts, green apples and chocolate over a herbal-hoppy backdrop. medium body, with soft carbonation and a delicate bitter finish. terrybail (330), London, Ontario, Canada Oct 28, 2008 Bottle from the LCBO

CIPS514 (77), Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA Oct 26, 2008 A good deep flavored trappist ale best served in a trappist glass. Moderate sedimentation for an unfiltered ale. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Oct 23, 2008 11.2 ounce bottle room temp in Westmalle glass. Dark brown with lasting tan head lace. Yeasty fruity aroma with surprising alcohol burn. Toasty woody malty flavor with mild dark fruit smoke and tobacco bitterness. Medium bosy and low internal carbo. Incredibly soft creamy mouthfeel. A great great beer. My favorite dubbel, which is not a favorite style.
