330ml bottle from the LCBO. pours beautiful deep red/brown with a big tan head. dark fruit aromas with yeast coming through with slight alcohol as well. flavours are a slight let down. nice dubble qualities but very rough and boozy. im goin to let my other bottles sleep in the cellar for awhile.

In 2 words: completely outstanding. My first trappist beer. From bottlescrew bills, Calgary AB. Pours a dark brown with hints of red and purple. Looks almost like Pepsi or Coke. Aroma of fruity hops, sweet malts and slight bitterness. Taste is pretty unique and interesting. Nutty earth fruit flavour and malts which dance on my tongue. Overall, an incredible beer and a wonderful display of brewmanship from Belgium.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a fluffy tan head and aromas of dark fruit and a little bit of tartness. First sip reveals a kind of earthy, fruity mix with some almost smokey moments, a touch of spice and a smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is a bit out of control during each sip...

Bottle. poured a dark red/brown color with a ton of brown head and a little bit of carbonation and great lacing. The aroma puzzled me a bit. it smells of dark fruit and sour fruit typical of a beer from Belgium but it also smelled like an American lager and the real kicker for me is that none of this smelled very strong at all. Lots going on in the nose but all very subtle. Very malty tasting with a little bit O’ hops. Has a bit of a sour finish that I don’t care for but is very smooth regardless. I’m not getting all of the complexity that most of the other raters are describing and it makes me wonder if my bottle is a bit flat. My overall impression is that this beer is very good but not outstanding.

Hints of caramel and dark bread in the aroma. Large creamy off white head that has good lacing and lasting longevity. Dark amber brown color. Lightly acidic with average duration. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Slightly astringent.
