Taste was slightly acidic, but had a nice balance of malt and hop. Main flavors were dark fruits. Contained a large amount of carbonation for the amount of head present. Not the best Trappist Ale I’ve had, but good. grikmok (92), Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Updated: Jan 4, 2009Dark brown, lightly tanned head. Nose is sweetly malty with dark fruits and spices. Flavor is dry and malty, some dates and earthy notes. Finishes dry with hop bitterness. Medium bodied with a bit too heavy, foamy carbonation, somehow hollow palate. But nicely dry for a dubbel. ( 8 4 8 4 16)
Re-rate: Candi sugar, pear, spices and rye in the aroma. Flavor is pretty much the same, some roastiness and cellar. Easy drinking dubbel, but nothing to dream about. RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Date stamp of 18/12/08. The beer pours a dark brown color, reminiscent of root beer, with a frothy light brown head. The head soon drops leaving behind a thin ring. The aroma is very subtle and we struggled to come up with specifics. It’s mostly lightly sweet malt, with some faint dark fruit and a mild spice note. The taste is as easy on the palate as the aroma was on the nose. Malt and caramelized brown sugar come to mind. There’s a hint of cinnamon noted. The finish is dry and mildly bitter, with a lot of carbonation felt on the tongue. Plimmer (251), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Sweet malt dominates the flavour and aftertaste. joshcook83 (8), Atlanta, Georgia, USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Didn’t get much in the way of aroma, but I think I may have served it a bit too cold. This is a very nice trappist dubbel. I’ll be trying it again. chaz2171 (11), USA
