Smells fruity and buttery with some coffee and caramel hints. The flavor is sweet, with candy corn and butter dominating followed by a medium finish that lingers. Very nice. troysworktable (109), Washington, USA Nov 5, 2007 2 ounce sample at 99 Bottles, Federal Way, WA. Off-white head. Good lacing. Lightly cloudy body. Dark orange-brown color. Major aromas and flavors include caramel, coffee, grass, raisin, plum, coriander. Primary flavor is caramel-infused coffee. Sweet-to-dry finish that has a long duration. Excellent. vlaamsegaai (4), Netherlands does not count Nov 3, 2007 33cl bottle. This is a magic beer. First you get loads of dark fruits, followed by wonderful caramel tones and then a nice background bitterness. What a wonderful brew. One of my definite favourites. booradley2785 (4), San Luis Obispo, California, USA does not count Nov 3, 2007 No super strong aroma. Head was full and tan. A dark brown color. Looks refreshing. Smooth taste that is just barely rich enough to excite the taste buds. Very tasty, and strongly recommended. WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Nov 2, 2007 11.2oz bottle. Pours a rich brown/ruby red with a billowy but fleeting mocha-colored head. Aroma is both sweet and malty with hints of dark and sour fruit mingling with caramel and roasted malt. Taste is full but not rich, with a very dry malty initial flavor opening up into a bouquet of dark fruit -- smooth and sweet, but also slightly tart. A fine dubbel, though not as complex as others. ubamartian (155), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Oct 29, 2007 330ml Bottle. Pours an almost perfect brown, with hints of fall reds and oranges trying to peek out. The head is a creamy toasted marshmallow the slowly dissolves back into the body of the glass. A lacing of toasted foam laces the glass as the head disappears. Upon opening and pouring the beautiful bouquet of raisins and undertones of carmelized malts blossoms to fill the area with it’s uniquely magnificent scent. The anticipation of the first sip is only heightened by actually taking the first sip and realizing the tantalizing aromas are fulfilled in the rich textures and excellent blend of flavors. Rasins, malts, and prunes balanced to cradle each one as it delicously tantalizes your taste buds. The feeling is of a smooth, not light, but not heavy silky liquid that embraces your mouth and slides down the throat easily. The lingering fruity malty and just mildly alchoholic flavors blend to leave you wanting the next sip. All too soon, you have realized that your sensation of utter delight has been completed and your yearning for the next taste sensation of a Westmalle Dubbel has already begun.
C’est Magnifique! BEEJE26 (40), Ontario, Canada Oct 29, 2007 Bronze coloured, medium body. Tones of raisin and cacao. Delicious dessert beer.
