BEEJE26 (40), Ontario, Canada Oct 29, 2007 Bronze coloured, medium body. Tones of raisin and cacao. Delicious dessert beer. uhre (339), Denmark Oct 21, 2007 The aroma has fruits like prunes but it also has a malty taste with a tint of alcohol. It pours a brown head, which doesn’t last that long. The flavor dominated by the taste of prunes and raisens very well-balanced! bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Oct 21, 2007 Aroma of dark, cherryish, fruit. Rich mahogany color, with tiny bubbles and a decent beige head. Thin to medium bodied with moderate, nigh creamy, carbonation. The flavor is light reddish berry and roasted malt. Also raisin and lighter stone fruits. Mouthsmackingly good. The finish tends toward dry, and there is a fruity, dark fruity, coating. Very refreshing. Especially after the Rocheforte 10. ako (153), Turku, Finland Oct 18, 2007 Murky red, faint head. Crisp flavor turns into very soft after pouring the yeast in. Feels and tastes like a different beer. Malty aroma is not very strong. Slight hints of yeast in the smooth finish. Well balanced, very nice brew. radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Oct 17, 2007 Poured into a Tulip glass. Redish brown color, with an offwhite head. Aroma is pretty malty, with a touch of sweet dried fruits.
Reminds me only slightly of the Westmalle Tripel I had from them not too long ago, another solid brew. ridgeman (37), Connecticut, USA Oct 9, 2007 Medium head tannish color vanished quicly. Pours a ruby hueish brown. Does not feel watery and has hints of liquorice. Very enjoyable with some nice carbonation, but expensive. $6+ for an 11.2 oz bottle. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2007 rated blind from "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. pours ruby with tan head. nose of licorice, nuts, dark fruits. flavor pretty alcoholy but not hot, grainy, tobacco. watery feel. under carbonated. this ended up being a big surpise that it was rated so low. TheQuaffer (14), Epsom, Surrey, England Oct 8, 2007 Bottle from Ghent. A beautiful dark burgundy colour with a short lived creamy head. It has yeasty, malty aroma.
