BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2007 From bottle : Pours a dark dark brown with ruby red highlight when held to the light, with a big creamy white head and glourious lacing. Decent amount of carbonation. Nose of plums, bananas, pears, raisons, grapes, and a little yeast. Flavor is just as fruity with a medium body that is bubbley and has a little bitterness on the back of the tongue towards the end. pumpmaster (473), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Sep 28, 2007 Updated: Oct 28, 200711 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Fort Lauderdale, FL $4.49 Excellent BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 28, 2007 Pours a cloudy brown ruby dody with a medium-sized beige head. Complex aroma of raisins, nuts, earth, candy, mollasses, plums, grapes, and cherries. Flavour of plums, grapes, alcohol, and some kirsch. Yeasty finish. stefanje (936), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Sep 27, 2007 11oz bottle from Bevmo. Poured a dark brown with a bit of red around the edges. Head was khaki in color, ample and slowly faded to about 1/4 inch and held with plenty of lacing. Aroma was complex with walnuts, almonds, raspberries, toast and sweet caramel. The flavor mirrored the aroma, with a bit of hops at the back end. The mouthfeel was smooth, full and satisfying with lively prickly carbonation. The finish was long and smooth with a bit of biter hops lingering. Overall: this is an outstanding brew. Recommended. Bockyhorsey (2483), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 27, 2007 Bottle, aroma of yeast and sweet fruit. Murky brown body with tan head. Decent mix pf fruity flavors along with some sour bitterness mixed in. Smooth on the palate with a sticky fruit aftertaste lingering on finish. Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Sep 24, 2007 Updated: Aug 12, 2008Bottle. 33 cl bottle poured into a tulip shaped pint glas.
Cloudy beer with a brown/dark red color. Off-white head that is large at first but mostly diminishing. Good lacing.
Smells good. Sweet malts and yeast, dried fruit, raisins, figs, plums. A bit of caramel/toffee as well.
The taste is not quite as good as the smell. Very fruity at first, then a more sour yeasty taste and some toffee/cocoa. Alcohol and some hoppy bitterness in the finish.
Medium body and lively carbonation. A bit dry.
BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Sep 23, 2007 Updated: Feb 18, 2009Poured from a bottle. Poured a thick brown color with a slight tan head. Nutty aroma with slight fruits peaking through. Taste is basically the same, with nutty malts and a dried fruit aftertaste. Nice beer. goldbrew (99), USA Sep 23, 2007 Poured into wide-flaring beer glass. Ruddy brown color, smallish head but small bubbles remain afloat long after. Had with an almond custard apple pie. First dubbel experience - nutty caramel aroma. Sweet floral essence as well it seems. Medium body with plenty of malt, not succulent or velvety though. Finish with moderate bitterness. Enjoyable but not a seminal beer moment for me.
