b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Aug 4, 2007 Dark brown olor with medium diminishing head and some lacing. Nice rich malty aroma and flavor. Better than the tripel as there is less alcohol flavor Defreni (994), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 4, 2007 Flaske. Utrolig flot dybrød-brun farve. Ingen sedimenter men masser af smag. Gav endelig mening for mig. Prometheus (97), Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA Aug 2, 2007 One of my favorite beers. Strong, smooth taste and a great aroma. This beer had a cloudy body and a strong malty flavor JoeZasada (133), Beaumont, Alberta, Canada Jul 31, 2007 Nice aroma. Thin head, nice aroma. Lightly malty, a bit fruity, kind of a light trappist ale. Some sediment when you pour, and a nice complex flavour. A good beer... not quite a rochefort, but stands on it’s own quite well. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Jul 31, 2007 Best by 05/16/2008. Sampled in my Westmalle challis. The beer pours to an unfiltered deep brown body with a thin khaki head. The aroma is quite fruity with notes of raspberries amongst the strong port wine and fresh unfiltered grape juice. How the heck does it smell this much like grapes? The flavor is a grapey sweet yeasty tobacco-like malt. The palate is creamy and juicy. Nice medium body. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Jul 30, 2007 Updated: Jan 2, 2008much better than the orval i had. this seemed to taste a little sweeter as i got farther into the bottle. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 25, 2007 Pours a nice reddish mahog color. Small white poofy head and has a nose of fruit and yeast. Tastes a little like buble gum and goes down smooth with aftertaste of fruit and spice. Good but not my favorite. derst27 (35), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA Jul 25, 2007 Rich smooth flavor with a long dry aftertaste. There’s a rich, chocolatey flavor that precedes a slight hoppy finish.
