Beer 2 of O’brien’s Trappist Tasting 2/3/07. Dark brown pour with a small light white head. The aroma is rich and malty and sweet. The taste is sweet and strong, stronger then I’d expect from 7%. Solid Dubbel.

(Rerate 110507, prev 7-3-5-3-11) Cloudy and dark brown color with little yellow head. Aroma is rich with nuts, biting spicy hops, chocolate, brown sugar and toffee, rather sweet aroma. Medium bodied, pretty high carbonation. Flavor is somehow watery with syrup, chocolate, spicy lemon, some disturbing tangy metal also there in aftertaste with some yeast. Again this beer let me down, maybe next time...

This beer has the typical dubbel features: its appearance is nice dark and it has sweet taste. I quite like this Westmalle version of our beloved dubbel beers! When i opened the bottle there was a nice top of foam on the bottle, which looked so nice, appearance was worth a 5!

Dirty brown with light head. Aroma of alcohol, fruit and molases. Thin body. Effervescent. Malty and dry. Foamy in the mouth with dry bitter chocolate and a light fruit finish.

In the bottle. Dark reddish pour with a gargantuan dark beige head. Aroma of chocolate and cherries. Strong malt body that is quite buttery. Not quite the outstanding flavor that I had expected, but very good.
