Just a straightforwad dubbel. Colour is mahogny-brown with som haze. Lively carbonation with a dense, thick biege head which last long. Smell of dried fruit, yeast and some chocolate. Taste is very malty with a good bitterness and a medium body. Raisins and dark chocolate seem to dominate the picture. Hints of dried apricot and some banana. Some sherry-tones from the alcohol. daknole (2941), Plantation, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Bottle. Mahogony color with a big beige head. Nice rich fruity/malty aroma. Would expect more flavor from the aroma, but there’s malt and apple flavors with some holiday spices. Medium body. Finshes dry. Could use a little more complexity to match the aroma. shrubber85 (2911), Wallhalben, Germany
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 17, 2005 Bottle. A caramel chocolate aroma. Dark, opaque brown color with ample but quickly collapsing head. Light sweet prune flavor with a slight bitter finish. Pretty weak and watery especially for the style. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Spicy orange flavor with alcohol vapors. Medium body. This is an amazing beer, for me, Westmalle sets a standard for dubbels and trippels and the other breweries have to work hard to be up to that standard of quality. skortila (2905), Bunnik, Netherlands

Rerate (april 12, 2004) Very malty, smooth fruity aroma with raisins. Red brown coloured with a brown lasting head. Much debris. Taste is fruity (cherry ?), malty and sweet. Excellent brew. A bit my homebrew, I always have westmalle dubbels in stock. What makes this beer so great is that it never bores.. It's always great. Not many beers have this potential. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Good stuff. Aroma is equal mix piney hops and molasses malts with some fruit as well. Pours an extremely dark red tinged brown with a large creamy kakhi head that lasts pretty well. Some of the best lacing I have seen so far. Taste is okay but somewhat watery for a 7% Trappist Dubbel. A bit dry and over carbonated for the style. That said, this beer is worth getting again. Pinball (2860), Allerød, Denmark
