dark brown with ruby highlights, creamy tan head,
rich sweet malt aroma with a touch of floral hops,
rich malt flavor, subtle hints of chocolate, dry, but not bitter, initially lots of carbonation to the point of distraction but settles down to a creamy milkshake

Keg
It's the only Trappist beer available in kegs (and I don't understand what's the need for that). It's good but not mature nor enough hoppy; it's a bit metallic and doesn't have enough character. [7-5-6-4-13]

Jan 3, 2008 Hazy brown with nice lasting creamy head. Malty aroma with overripe fruits. Malty flavor with raisins. plums and a discrete sourness. Perfect balance. A classic.

Feb 13, 2003 Creamy tan head atop a dark brown body. Aroma is sweet plum/date, some yeast, and definite alcohol. Taste is sweet, dark fruity, and nicely malty. Medium body, with a slight over-carbonation that detracts. Improves significantly as it warms to room temperature. This is a very pleasant beer, but I didn't find much depth.
