The head is rather dry and, like the tripel, my first thought is that the alcohol dominates the flavor too much. Also, it’s really rather thin in character. Not a top-of-the-lind double to me. pivo (2535), Germany

Nice tan leggy head. Sweet flavor up front that is spicey, nutty and has hints of honey. There is a woody finish that is slightly dry. Nice boost of taste from the alcohol. Complex palette. Mature and well-balanced. Enjoy this best by itself. Bockyhorsey (2528), Mesa, Arizona, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 3, 2003 Hazy dark brown colour with a nice off-white head. Aroma of cherries, raisins, plums and other sugars-all with a malt background. Medium to Light-bodied; Mild sweetness with strong bittering malt. Not much flavour-definately lacking-not what I had expected. Aftertaste is bland as well, not too great-only some malt showing. Overall, a nice treat, but not as good as I had expected. I got this 33 cL bottle courtesy of my sister's fiance which he got from Belgium! I sampled this one on 27-November-2003. GregClow (2496), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Nose is light but very nice, with sweet malt and dark fruit notes. Soft mouthfeel. Great flavour - brown sugar, raisin, spice, roasted malt, a hint of yeast. So easy to drink, this might be the first Trappist that I could imagine making a session beer. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
