Dark reddish mahogany color, fine-bubbled and very persistent head. Aroma is quite complex, having some various dark and sweet fruits, a slightly medicinal component, and some dark sugar. Flavor is also quite complex, with the sweet-bready malty flavors dominating, but also a touch of wine. Creamy mouthfeel for such a style. Spicy and interesting yeast flavors in the finish. Medium bodied. I tried it both before and after I swirled and poured the yeast. The yeast added a bit of nuttiness and sharpness to the finish. Incredible lacing, this is an attractive beer, and a very nice one all around. Unique.

Pours cloudy brown with red highlights. Medium lasting off white head. Sweet malt & dark fruits dominate aroma. Medium full mouthfeel. Flavour starts sweet, mid is full of dark fruitcake flavours. Slightly citric finish. Nice stuff.

Crystal clear & shining browness.. big bubbled lather..
aromas hinted at Grapes sitting in choclate autumn rain with licorice infused vinegar tartness..
Smacks of fermentation..dripping syrup of sour chocolate seeping slowly into lonely grapeseeds..terminating harshness..forgettable..weak bodied..missing sophistication

330ml bottle from BevMo Carmel Mountain. This Trappist brew poured a very hazy coffee brown with a slight reddish tint. Head was light tan, thin, and creamy.....some lacing. Aroma was of toffee, raisins, and other dark fruits. As the beer sat, cherry aroma’s became more predominant. Medium in body and some what sweet. Another great brew from the Monks!

via trade with Beer_Hawk - Pours a hazy brown color with a big off white head that lasts. Has a spicey, fruity aroma. The flavor is fruity and tad bit tart. Not much yeast in this one, which is nice. Medium to full body. I’m sorry. As hard as I may try, I can not get into these Belgium beers. Just too fruity. Worth a try though. Thanks Steve.

Bottle shared at tasting. Thanks! Pours chocolate brown with a light tan head. Smell is raisin. Taste is thin, and bland raisins. Tart dark raisin like fruitiness and a touch of burnt bitterness as well. Medium to thin body and normal carbonation.
