I had given up hope, but suddenly this came along, and I had a sip, another sip and then the entire bottle! The color is dark brown with a red hue, it has a nice, creamy head and the aroma has notes of roasted malt and dark fruit. The mouthfeel is nice and rather oily. The first impression of the flavour is sweetish, with notes of dark fruit, honey, roasted malt and a hint of nuts. While the nice drops leaves the tongue a nice citrussy notes comes along and stays all the way through the finish. It’s a very good beer to start with as the first step into the world of the trappists, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

complex and balanced. sweet malts and bitter fruits. smooth and drinkable. i have been told by someone in the know that you can mix it with the tripel to create a fantastic amber. sounds like sacrilege but dont knock it ’til you have tried it. this is wonderful stuff and one of my faves that is regularly available. from a pump it is truely wonderful. thewolf (5744), Kolding, Denmark

Aromas of malts, raisins, light spices, and light yeast. Tastes of bread, spices, raisins and other tastes mixed in there. Lively carbonation. Another solid Trappist brew. Numerous malt esters play with our nose. Dark berries and chocolate. Full mouthfeel with above average carbonation. Big malty chocolate taste, subtle hops bring us into a bitter aftertaste. It's good, but not awesome as I expected as a fierce lover of the Dubbel style.
