Bottle pours a slightly hazy deep brown with slight redish hints. Small but persistant light tan head and thick sheeting lacing. Nice woody brown sugar and dark pitted fruits in the aroma. Flavor is not so interesting. Light typical belgian yeast notes and soft woody blanket of flavors. Quite hightly carbonated which seems to blast away some of the subtle flavors. Still nice. Light fizzy palatte.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a fluffy tan head and aromas of dark fruit and a little bit of tartness. First sip reveals a kind of earthy, fruity mix with some almost smokey moments, a touch of spice and a smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is a bit out of control during each sip...

But au Bistro Belge (St-Hubert, Quéebec), 33 cl. Brun foncée voilée, petit collet blanche. Arome très caramelisé, un peu épicé. Goût légèrement malté et épicé, pas trop alcoolisé.

bottle BB 1/23/10... ruby brown pour is opaque from the yeast skittering down the glass. tan head is soapy and soft with some drippy lacing left behind. super malty aroma is packed with fruit especially raisins and warming spices. the flavor reminds me of raisin brioche dusted with cinnamon and clove sugar... fruity, bready, really malty with a straw-like finish yet dry and slightly bitter. nothing really jumps out at me but i could session this... medium body with a slick smooth mouth feel...

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, sweet fruits (applesauce and fig), some cola-like notes. Flavor of bitter hops initially with lots of malt and sweet fruits, even some soda-like notes. Hmm, not what I expected from the #2 dubbel in the world. The flavor is bland and the palate a touch heavy. I would have liked more fruity notes or spices....oh well. 7/4/6/3/14 (3.4/5)

Dark chestnut color, thin wispy head. Slightly bready yeast aroma, Belgian malts. Some light fruit aromas present and nicely compliment the yeast and malt aromas. Light palate, mildly carbonated. Mild sour notes in the taste, nice balance to the sweetness and malt, dry finish. Extremely pleasant to drink and has a subtle complexity to it.
