Tastes clean and dark-fruity with hints of banana. Should be interested in tasting an aged bottle leaparsons (4755), Leicester, Leicestershire, England
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 4, 2002 Pours with an impressive head. A smooth foamy mouthfeel adds to the experience. This hasn’t got the coffee/chocolate notes that Rochefort8 has. Nevermind - its still a great beer. ChristianScheffel (4679), Odense, Denmark

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2004 Bottle. Pours coppery/brownish, with a gargantuan, long-lasting head and great lacing. Aroma of malt, fruit, berries, concord grapes, toffee, and cognac. Tastes very malty, with a complex fruity flavor. I tastes plum, pear, grapes, licorice, brown sugar, and port in this one. Finishes smooth, crisp, malty, with some sweet brown sugar taste at the finish. Nice complexity and nicely balanced. Lubiere (4552), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2006 A clear reddish brown ale with an extra thick lacing light moka head. Aroma of warming scotch alcohol, chocolate and orange peels. In mouth, woody malt with long alcohol warmth, not sweet as expected, but loads of coriander and light hopping. A bit thinner than other classics. Still, a classy beer. Bought at LCBO for 2.95$. Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 14, 2001 Bottle sampled in 2001 (no bottling date but prob 2000-01). Deep red-brown color with medium-thickness head; strong grapy aroma with I think a hint of cloves. Flavor very wine-like but with enough malt and hops so you know its beer; I personally loved it. Goes down very smooth; one of the most drinkable, ’quaffable’ Belgians, if not the most complex. HenrikSoegaard (4424), Randers, Denmark
