Quality beer from the monks. Perfect appearance and texture. High carbonation, huge long-lasting head and dry finish makes it easy to drink. Moderate esters, a perfect balance of phelolics and fruits. A masterpiece.

Bottle. Pours a deep reddish-brown with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma is candy sugar with slight malt and dark fruit characteristics. Taste is malt and candy sugar up front, and on the back end I detected some hints of plum, raisin, and spices like cinnamon and maybe coriander. An absolutely wonderful dubbel, and one of my all-time favorites.

The aroma of chocolate and coffee is deceptive. The flavor is soft, of red fruits, especially cherry. Light and cooling, final alcohol lightly bitter taste...........................O aroma de chocolate e café engana. O sabor é suave, de frutas vermelhas, especialmente cereja. Álcool leve e refrescante, final levemente amargo. Licorosa.

Finally getting to rate this bad larry. The pour produces an opaque plum colour with a super frothy tan head that doesn’t fade. The nose is of candied plums, apple, heather, and brown sugar. The flavour is candy-sweet, with spicy bubblegum yeast, cantelope, and light alcohol zest. There are similar suggestions as in the nose, like plum and stuff. The mouthfeel is epicly smooth and shit, with a mega dry, medium-legnth finish. Dope!!!!!!

Bum Bum Bum! Alas, this is infinatley better than the quad. Deep amber color. Very fruity aroma, fizzy texture. Thick, soapy head. Tastes like cherry licorice Short finish. Excellent. Makes me wish I bought more.

Underappreciated as trappist-beer (his brother the blond Triple is more popular), but the dark and mature taste just makes me crazy. I love the fine taste, but I do not hesitate to drink this beer in huge amounts.

0.33l bottle at Bruges cafe, Newcastle. Pours dark brown with a creamy head. Smell and taste are chocolate, nuts and peach, quite sweet and virtually no alcohol detectable. Hugely enojoyable trappist ale, very nice.

This is an absolutely fantastic beer! Only six brewers in Belgium are allowed to use the name trappist. Westmalle is one of them. A trappist ale is one brewed by Belgian monks. This fantastic beer smells great, looks great, and tastes great! It blends fruits almost perfectly with the light chocolate and caramel flavors. It’s slightly fizzy yet very easy on the palate. This Westmalle Dubbel is a must have.
