The tap version is much less sweet than the bottled version. Aroma is complex, but one of the distinct things I could detect was a fresh, harvest apple aroma. That aroma was mildly present in the tasting also. Very fresh and enjoyable. Sigmund (2294), Hafrsfjord, Norway

Lovely aroma of oak, leather and spices. Well balanced spicy flavour, slightly bitter finish. Aftertaste could have lasted a bit longer, but this is still a thoroughly well made beer. A wonderful fruity (again bananas) flavour with a LONG, strong finish. A bit more dry than the other trappists I have had. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

In most Belgian pubs they serve this beer too cold, let’s say pils temperatures. Then you get some iron taste in the glas. If served in ambient temps you get the full palate of nice malts and some very nice fruit. This beer must also be served very carefully - do not pour the yeast in the glass (my choice), therefore I think it is a delicate beer - handle with care. On draught this beer is slightly thinner but probably the draught Westmalle is much younger, but still very nice. Cheers
