Westmalle’s frightfully expensive in the US, but is worth it once in a while... Ommegang is not a bad substitute though. jhliesen (406), West Melbourne, Florida, USA

The aroma had malts, cinnamon and other spices along with yeast. A strong caramel taste developed as the drink warms. Good thick mouth feel. Dark brown clor with a lively body. Almost a merlot taste. Very enjoyable...but almost a little to fizzy to enjoy the taste. greg5783 (10), Turvey, England

This beer is bottle conditioned so there’s quite a bit of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Has a pungent yeast and malty aroma. Has a hugely powerful taste without being too bitter. Tastes malty at first, then settles down to a mildly bitter caramel taste which fades out becoming sweeter leaving a pleasant aftertaste that seems to linger for ages. Beautiful dark brown pout with a 2 finger head that laced all the way down the glass. Head left alot quicker than the Rochefort. Aroma is dark fruits, spices and alcohol with some yeastiness in the background. nearbeer (1886), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Pours cloudy, dark brown. Huge head quickly boils away to nothing. Aroma is toffee and chocolate-covered cherries with slight alcohol. Flavor is yummy caramel chocolate with slight hop bittering at the end to provide great balance. Palate is dry and medium bodied. Great beer. broken013 (7), lebanon, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2007 Nice aroma and taste.
