I love a good dubbel and to me this is one of the best. It pours a dark brown with a very nice head into a snifter. The aroma is nuts and fruit. The mouth is very full and a ton of wonderful, complex flavors float around at you. It can be specy at times, sweet at others, fruity but mostly balanced. I would say the body is slightly beyond medium. It has an outstanding finish that really sticks around. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

Nose of chocolate covered bananna, caramel and yeast. This is an interesting beer, caramel figured prominently in the beginning, unusual for a trappist. Followed by hints of raisin and fig and a dash of chocolate and a very delicate hoppiness at the finish. At the very end of the finish the caramel comes back and hangs around with a light bit of bitterness. Crazy complex for a dubbel, this is probably one of the best of the style that I have had. chaz2171 (11), USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 23, 2009 Dark brown with a reddish hue. Has a foamy cream colored head. The aroma is very complex with hints of dark chocolate, coffee, and and dates. The flavor almost matches the aroma perfedtly with the hints of dark chocolate, coffee, and dates. The alcohol rounding out the flavor and ties everything together. The finish brings out some sweetness like cream in coffee or milk chocolate mixed with the dark chocolate. A very drinkable beer and probably my favorite of the Trappist Ales.
