A little too sweet for me, but has a rich and complex taste, as it is indeed a trappist. Fruity and rich. Great appearance and finish.

330ml bottle, poured dark brown with big frothy off-white head, which slightly dissipated and left nice lacing. Aroma was typical Belgian...dark fruit, very malty. Taste is rich, with dark fruit, molasses, and malt, with creamy mouthfeel. Great Dubbel!

Served in a chalice. Beer poured a dark brown with a nice creamy head. Plenty of carbonation, but not over carbonated. Malty taste with very little hop bitterness, little bit of an alcohol kick at the end. I would love to drink more than one, but with the price and alcohol content this may not be one of my better ideas. Good beer to drink, especially if you find a decent price on it.

A cornucopia of sweetness, fruits and malt are obvious right from the start at the aroma. Even though it is a very malty beer is it refreshing, and it has notes of riped fruits too. Unbelievable complex taste, which is nearly impossible to describe in detalis, but the beer must not be served too cold, then it will loose a lot of it’s special elements, and the alcohol will be to obvious. The aftertaste is beautiful too - it is with riped fruits, lots of malts, sweet chocolate and a perfect balanced amount of hops. It is neither watery, nor to sturdy; it has the perfect body. Amazing beer.

Had this at dba in New Orleans. Deep brown color with sufficient head. Wonderful aroma of berries and malt. The flavor was succulent; a nutty fellow with malt and sweet fruit producing an appearance of excellence. Excellent bar by the way - my favorite in New Orleans.

Pours a dark, deep red with a creamy off-white head and good lace. Faint aroma - fresh, dark cherries and sweet malt. Amazing flavour - quite subtle for a dubbel. Fresh dark cherries, cranberry, peppery hops, ends in a tart (but not sour) hoppy finish that warms. Creamy body, thin but milky. This is perhaps the most unassuming dubbel I have tasted, but so pleasant, fresh, and refined as to easily be the best. I wish I had more of these.

0.33L bottle, big fluffy pale mocha head, hazy brown colour with some burgundy red taints. Extremely complex aroma, i detected vanila, coffee, dates, dried figs, dark honey, caramel and spiciness to roung off. flavour quite dry but with a touch of sweetness, coffee bitterness, bittersweet chocolate, licorice, woodiness. medium to full body, exquisitly balanced, long bittersweet aftertaste. Wonderfull to linger on.
