Much better than their tripel which itself is a classic. Belgian yeast and dark fruits highlight the nose, along with a hint of purest water from a stone well (that’s what I get anyway). Has a perfect medium palate, like this beer was made by gods to be the perfect beer. Taste is clean apple-white grape and caramel. Beer is so good, New Belgium stole the bottle. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 21, 2006 Bottle. Pours a rich mohogany color with a very foam off-white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is of overripe fruits and wine. Taste is more subdued than I would have like, but it has a nice taste. A bit of caramel taste but loads of spices. Very drinkable. Except for the burn on my empty stomach, I would have believe you if you told me it was 4% ABV. Taste improves as you continue down the glass. Delicious, even if it isn’t as intense as I would have liked. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA

Aroma is very nice, smells of sweet fruit. Sharp carbonation at first, then mellows into a sweet blend of cherry and yeast. Way, way better than I thought. Complex flavor that competes with Rochefort. The only negative is the mouthfeel isn’t as rich as I would like. Harsebrau (168), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2007 Had this at dba in New Orleans. Deep brown color with sufficient head. Wonderful aroma of berries and malt. The flavor was succulent; a nutty fellow with malt and sweet fruit producing an appearance of excellence. Excellent bar by the way - my favorite in New Orleans. ciuspan (94), Hillerød, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2007 Bottle. Pour is a handsome chestnut brown with a diminishing sandstone head. Nice Belgian floral nose. Malty, bready flavors at the beginning, with forest fruit flavors (fig and hazelnut) emerging, followed by toffee flavors in the finish. Medium bodied and remarkably well balanced. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium

You should try the combination of 50% Double mixed with 50% tripple a very nice and smooth taste. This one is an option at the Trappist Pub across the brewerie. This combo is called Half om Half and is the only beer my sister drinks.
You can have the beer now also in large bottle.
