Westmalle Dubbel did not disappoint. Aroma was evident immeadiately after cracking the cap off. Poured nice into a goblet with a thick head. Beer had a consistant strong, yet smooth taste. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2002 A fun beer to watch. Small bubbles that get bigger as you go up in the tall amber head. An amber orange color. Quite dry. Noted the darker fruits including cherries. A dry finish with flavors of hazelnut and toast. Hammster (187), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 6, 2007 33 cl bottle. Poured an opaque, deep, dark walnut brown and red with an inch thick head that looked like something on an expensive mocha. Aroma was milder than expected but still complex--cloves, raisins, all spice, and some other dark fruit. Wonderful lacing. The taste, like the aroma, is more subtle than expected. Sweet and dried fruit is noticeable--plum, apricot, and raisins. There is also a little roasted malt note to the flavor. The finish is decent but not what I expect from a trappist. Very good, but for the money I prefer something with not mere complexity but more intensity too. flatmatt (224), Northville, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2009 330 mL bottle, best by Jan. 23, 2010. Pours murky brown with an off-white head that subsides fairly quickly. Aroma is very strong, with sweet honey, caramel, cherry, dark fruit, and biscuit. Very promising. Flavor is equally sweet and dominated by honey and caramel flavors, with touches of cherry and grape as well as some light apple flavors. Strong carbonation. Finishes on a mild biscuit and raisin note. This is my new favorite dubbel. timbeer (55), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA

Nice smooth aroma, clear brown sugar color, not too carbonated and the head was not too sticky or rocky and didn’t last. To me I tasted raisins and plums. Mild bitternes and light on the tongue. Very nice. BrotherJoe (12), Iowa, USA

The head stays forever and the beer is excellently carbonated. Aroma is filled with spice. Taste has a great spice to it that starts kind of sweet and goes down very smooth. I think i got hints of apple in the taste too. Very good trappist.
