Pours hazy blonde with a thick white head but it doesn’t last very long.
Aroma is fruity, sharp & spicy. Maybe a bit yeasty and it will probably depend on how much yeast you leave on the bottom.
It’s very drinkable and has a dry bitter aftertaste. The warmer you drink it, the warmer it will leave your throath behind after every sip. Carbonation is average and the aroma is not very complex. Just had a piraat before this and would prefer the piraat even thought they are quite different. changeup45 (790), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Pours a peach, orange, perhaps I could call it grapefruit color. Moderate head that tapers off pretty quickly. About a quarter of the way through just a patchy head remains that does produce some lacing. The aroma is pleasant consisting of fruits, some of the sweeter one’s such as oranges and some nice yeast. Semi tangy citrus flavor, yeasty and extremely easy drinking. There’s almost a clean watery note mixed in with the fruits. Nice amount of flavor but I’m looking for just a little more. Perhaps I’m being picky as I recently sampled various brews from St. Bernardus, Chimay and Rochefort but this one does carry the same price tag. I would never have known there was 9.2% alcohol in there if I didn’t look at the bottle. Quite refreshing too but if you’re drinking this you aren’t looking for something to slug down while sitting in the sun. As the beer warms it becomes a little more spicy with a sour grapefruit flavor and a banana note I didn’t detect earlier but still, I can hardly taste the alcohol. This is a great beer but it didn’t wow me. HughConway (367), Washington, USA

The flavour is a nice balance between sweet and spicy malts and alcohol. Nice hop bitterness to the finish. gowdy (155), Ferney-Voltaire, France

Really nice Belgain tripel with well hidden high alcohol content and light, fluffy mouthfeel. Refreshing and smooth. BeerEssential (96), Massachusetts, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Pours a gorgeous and very cloudy orange. This is not exceptionally carbonated and I needed to pour it straight into the glass from some height to achieve a decent, billowing head. This head left some nice Belgian lace, however for the most part disappeared within a minute. Has a pleasing sweet aroma, which I sense includes the smell of caramel and peaches. Taste is, as noted above, not very carbonated, but has a long finish. Slightly bitter and alcoholic. Overall, comparable to Orval, but I prefer that to this. Definitely good, though. imdownthepub (5143), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Bottle conditioned, aged 7yrs plus. Clear gold, white head but with big lumps of yeast. Another beer I have tried to age deliberately to try and calm down the spice, it hasen’t really worked with this though, the alcohol has developed but the spice remains, quite harsh really. Bitter and full, but lacking the subtleties of some Tripels. Not quite the great beer that it could be.
