Crafty07 (334), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Feb 5, 2008 Cloudy golden pour from the distinctive 11.2 oz bottle, this triple lives up to its name with a strong alcohol note and noticeable dry finish. However, it seem excessively carbonated. The spices hang suspended in the glass witch might add to the taste but makes the appearance a bit disquieting.
Overall, a pleasant experience.
PaulHegedus (64), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Sep 4, 2008 Bottle. This pours a light golden colour with a large, energetic head. Aromas of apple, grape, yeast, a bit of orange. Tastes strongly of alcohol, with fruit, apple, citrus. hellbilly (865), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Sep 3, 2008 bb 1/22/10... pours somewhat viscous a cloudy golden color with lots of floaters evident. super long lasting airy/wispy/soapy off white head. pillowy foam coats the inside of the glass as the head eventually recedes. really yeasty aroma with notes of black pepper spiciness, canned pear/fruity?, soap/flowers and a hint of some skunk. lots of yeast in the flavor as well as pears, dried grass and herbs, mild caramel and a skunky hop finish. spiciness comes on strong toward the end as the abv% warms up the belly. medium body. nice and dry on the palate. soft airy carbonation makes it velvety and smooth... temporrari (312), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 2, 2008 Thick white head that lasts, hazy yellow color, lots of yeast sediment in the bottle, luckily I poured it really well and left almost all of it behind. The head actually gets bigger after I pour the beer and let it sit in the glass. There is quite a bit of visible carbonation. An easy 5. Smells pretty darn good. Spicy, yeast, slightly grassy and funky, definitely some fruity stuff in there too. I’m gonna say 8. Flavor is excellent. Perhaps not a complex as the aroma. Very lively on the palate. Smooth drinking. Real good stuff. REDBOSOX (42), Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, USA Aug 31, 2008 I would think that Westmalle Tripel should be better than Westmalle Dubbel. To me, it’s not. The Westmalle Triple is still an excellent beer though. It’s very strong yet you’ll hardly notice it until it sneaks up on you. It’s a cloudy golden color, citrus flavored, and fairly thick. Pour slowly so that the head’s not TOO thick, otherwise you’ll be waiting a few minutes for it to settle down. This is one well-worth drinking. Anything carrying the name trappist is a must have. ucusty (1062), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 The pour is a clouded, hay-colored gold with long, snakey yeasty globs slithering about the glass. Giant head so typical of a tripel. Aromas of pineapple, lovely Belgian yeasties, band-aid, canned fruit salad. Thick, sticky brew. Acidic dryness to finish after ample yummy, juicy-fruit sweetness coats the mouth. Wonderful example of the style, the extra aging is evident. Maybe a bit on the syrupy side
