Clear dark amber body, creamy beige head, full lacing; Buttery soft nose with lots of rye bread, the age is quite apparent; Very balanced bitter body, big soft carbonation, quite thin; Long but thin finish with apparent age (lots of dust) and lots of sour dough rye bread. Good but the age has really gotten to it the last couple of years.

7-year-old bottle at Kulminator in Antwerpten Belgium. Westvleteren was but a twinkle in my eye before this trip to Belgium. This beer really impressed me. Very deep complex flavor. Malty grainy, but also lots of deep wood, raisen, and chocolate tones. I would drink this one again and again if I could find it again and again. Worth every cent of the 8 Euro I paid!!

33 cL bottle in joint tasting of the family of 4 Westvleteren beers. Pours unclear red brown. Explosive. Aroma is slight fruity and alcoholic but sadly also oxidized. Taste is fruity with a touch of caramel maltyness, but overall dry and light acidic. Finish was dry fruity.6-3-6-3-13=3.1

Re-rate of a 2001 BBD bottle. Complex fruity aroma. Nutty and dried fruity flavour, quite malty. Spiced too. Definately more fresh and complex than the 1998 bottle I had.7-3-7-4-15=3.6

Bottle vintage ? Last date 1995 thanks to Yespr. Yesper brought all 4 Westvleteren to a tasting at Ølbaren, and I had the luck to try this rare beer. The beer was hazy brown with a small beige head. The aroma was oxidized, dark friuts, light acidic, and so was the taste, dry. Medium body with a dry finish. 5-3-6-3-13 Re-rate. 7-4-7-4-17 Bottle vintage ? last date 2001, and again thanks to yespr! A amber beer with a big beige head. the aroma is dusty and of dark fruits and caramel, so is the taste. Medium body with a dry finish. This one may have been over the top by 6 years, but it was still good, much better then the first one.
