Westvleteren was but a twinkle in my eye before this trip to Belgium. This beer really impressed me. Very deep complex flavor. Malty grainy, but also lots of deep wood, raisen, and chocolate tones. I would drink this one again and again if I could find it again and again. Worth every cent of the 8 Euro I paid!!

Re-rate of a 2001 BBD bottle. Complex fruity aroma. Nutty and dried fruity flavour, quite malty. Spiced too. Definately more fresh and complex than the 1998 bottle I had.7-3-7-4-15=3.6 Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

Bottle vintage ? last date 2001, and again thanks to yespr! A amber beer with a big beige head. the aroma is dusty and of dark fruits and caramel, so is the taste. Medium body with a dry finish. This one may have been over the top by 6 years, but it was still good, much better then the first one. Odeed (1675), Bakersfield, California, USA
