Just awesome, I am lucky I found it a vintage place. But I learnt some stuff about these beers, you cannot mix the bottom with the rest, the aroma, and the after taste is like sweet Rochefort cheese, and very persistent.

7-year-old bottle at Kulminator in Antwerpten Belgium. Westvleteren was but a twinkle in my eye before this trip to Belgium. This beer really impressed me. Very deep complex flavor. Malty grainy, but also lots of deep wood, raisen, and chocolate tones. I would drink this one again and again if I could find it again and again. Worth every cent of the 8 Euro I paid!!

1999 vintage at Le Bier Circus in Brussels. Deep malty aroma, raisins, figs, sugar. Velvet aroma. Deep mahogany clear with off-white pillowy lacing head. Medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. Starts sweet and mellow, raisin and plum, candy sugar, mild hops bitter. Alcohol present. Finish is smooth dry nutty sweet, with raisin. After has nice bitterness, with vinuous fruity undertones.

1995: Pour is hazed brownish amber with a dense tan head...smell is instantly funky and lightly sour...what a treat!...a nice musty funk creeps into your nose...definately some nuts and figs too, but just a wonderful subtle sourness...taste was dry and lightly cobwebby, with a hint of sweetness dancing around the sour yeasty flavor...the finish was slow and lingering and perfect for what this beer is...wow...I would rather drink this than blonde, 8, or 12...costly, but worth it.

Bottle@Bier Circus, Brussels. Aroma of dark fruits, toffee, and a noticable nuttyness. These flavours correspond to the palate. This is lightly sweet, with some soft acidity in the finish. But this is soft, complex and the flavour seems to go on forever, this was a real treat.

Another Holy Grail!!! Thanks to DrNate03 for this one. Bottled. 1999 vintage. Purchased at the Bier Circus. Deep ruby/claret body with a medium tan head. Nose is dark fruit, dark malts, figs, grains, a hint of rum and light coffee. Taste is rich with strong dark fruits, sweetened dark malts, faint tobacco, and muddied chocolate. Exquisite! Mouthfeel is very full and rich. Finish is cocoa, light sweetness, more roasted character and light alcohol. Godly! Why did they quit making this!?!?!?

(Bottle from 1996) Pours a bit hazy, deep red. Lots of berry like tones in the aroma with notes of redcurrant and cherries. Also some almond, honey, caramel, grain and earth. Subtle but complex, vinous undertones in many layers. Malty, light chewable flavour of bread, toffee, almond and light caramel. Vinous and berry like tones in the flavour as well. Smooth and velvety mouthfeel with a lot of soft carbonation. Sweet honey-ish and light floral finish. Lingering aftertaste with a light sourish sting. Medium bodied. Please don’t hate me because I might be the first to say this wild and crazy thing but Westvleteren is probably one of the best breweries in the world.
