Taste is a dry light hop flavor, not that complex but still a good beer. Thanks brad. Derek881 (495), Frederick, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Very exciting to have my first Westvleteren, and eagerly anticipating the next two after this one. The aroma was a lively blend of citrus hops, particularly grapefruit and some orange, with a touch of candy, and some yeast and wheaty scents too; maybe even a bit floral. The beer had a cloudy straw color with a huge, foamy white head that head unending retention and a lot of cling. A nice and sweet citrus-candy taste with some sour effects too; plenty of flavor in this beer. There was good fizzyness and ample carbonation, but a somewhat lighter body and feel. Smooth and on the thinner side, slightly wet. The beer exceeded my expectations, and leaves me eager to try more. nightrider (380), encinitas, California, USA

Fresh fruity to the nose with hints of cloves. Refreshing taste of fruits with spiced hops mixed in. Dry bitter endnotes. Soft carbonated. Gentle in the mouth. Served comfortably chilled (eating and drinking upstairs at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen (19.09.2008). sebletitje (1925), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Very pale yellow as the slight sediment sneaks in a few small particles cloud but do not darken this brew. Faint white head retains only a ring with lacing clinging the glass. Nose like a tripel, spicy, musty notes. Lightly carbonated feel on the palate. Very light spicy palate is pleasant. Must and citrus notes finish a yeasty and hoppy spicy beer. More tripel than blond in my opinion but great nonetheless. Palidor19 (1780), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 21, 2008 The aroma is malty with a corn like element and the hops are grassy, basically simple. The appearance is hazy gold with a large head. The flavor is like the aroma with a nice malt hop balance. The palate is thin. Overall it’s pretty good despite being simple.
