Commercial Description:
Westvleteren Blond is the basic beer for the monks’ own consumption, since 1999, when the former 6° dark ale (red cap) was finally discarded, after the 4° had already gone that path.

A wonderful birthday treat for me sent from a friend from Belgium. Enjoyed in the Westvleteren glass he sent as well. Waited to get this at the right temperature high marks for the aroma as well as appearance. Not as flavorful as the other Westvleteren beers more of the citrus taste comes through on this wonderful brew. Such a pity one can not get this or any of the Westvleteren brews easily, perhaps that is the charm. They rank as my favorites. Happy birthday to me.

heather wheat and a mild tough of corieander. this beer has a floral brightness and a nice un even head, the color is akin to a cloudy light cider with haze and tiny but active bubbles. it is at once silky and citric with and ultra fresh wheat flavor. the purity and quility of the components is clear. accross from the abby

Pour is the color of straw with a big and foamy white head. Aroma of bready malt and musty. Heavly malted and belgian yeast flavor. Slightly bitter with good carbonation. Not bad, but no great.

Clear yellow pour with a gigantic, foamy white head. Lemony, yeasty aroma with a slight hint of bread, pepper, grass and spice. Light, tart fruits and citrus make most of the body of the flavor with a slightly sweet, yeasty, peppery finish with just a hint of spice. Medium body, dry finish and lots of carbonation. I usually find the Blond styles to be a bit boring, but this has some nice layers of complexity to it.

11.2 oz bottle-no date code. Trade w/daknole. Poured a light golden, cloudy color w/a slight white foamty head & good lacing. Citrus aroma. Crisp Blond Belgian flavor kind of heavy on grapefruit & citrus. Traces of grass & straw, w/a little bit of figs. Long dry finish. Good solid brew; I wouldn’t seek it out like a Westy 12, but enjoyable. Gotta get an 8 next-thanks for the trade!

Big thanks to Oldsmar Tap House owner Tony for popping open the rare elixir. Pours pale dull gold with slight haze. The bright white head faded to a ring within a minute or two. The aroma is fairly mild with a mixture of faint pale malt sweetness, lightly roasted malts that play against mild yeastiness. Behind that I get some fresh bright citrus hops along with just a hint of dates and prunes. The taste is light and refreshing starting with a quick hit of mild malty sweetness followed by a growing tart bitterness mixed with light yeasty spice. Midway the bitterness peaks with notes of citrus. This isn’t an overly bitter beer but has a solid hop taste. At the finish mild pale malt sweetness surfaces before a mild tartness joins in. Great refreshing brew that will work great in hot weather.

Yellow with a huge head. Flowery and hoppy aroma with a surprisingly bitter flavour for a blond. It has notes of grass, straw, fruits and a bit of caramel. It ends dry and is light bodied.
