Commercial Description:
Westvleteren Blond is the basic beer for the monks’ own consumption, since 1999, when the former 6° dark ale (red cap) was finally discarded, after the 4° had already gone that path.

Thanks to Drewbeerme. A very mellow take on a Belgian Ale. Everything is well mixed and no vegetable taste is desernalble like most Belgians. Its hay and citric with some yeast and cream. Not my favorite style, and i can imagine what a trip this bottle took and still its very good. Lots of lively carbonation and very murky and dirty. I would love to have some of this on tap!

Bottle at In de Vrede, Westvleteren. One of my favourite beers in the world. Hazy golden blond colour, with tight white head. Hoppy citric creamy nose with yeastiness. Fullish in mouth iwth tart drying lemony citrus finish. Refreshing and wonderful. Had to re-rate again. Excellent yeasty/hoppy/citrus nose with grapefruit. Can’t express what a good blond this is!

Bottle (33 cl) from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark. Hazy deep golden with a small but longlasting head. Complex earthy and yeasty aroma with light herbal hops. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation. Very fry with a long moderately bitter finish.

Sampled at Westvleteren cafe, alongside her sister beers. Killer! As big as can be for a beer with less than 6%. Unbelievable complexity. Dry. Finely hopped. Pine, esters in nose. Finely honed. Soft mouthfeel.

Bottle, thanks to dra19. This one pours a cloudy golden yellow with big, fluffy white head. The aroma is like freshly baked bread, pineapple, lemon, and lots of smooth yeasty tones. The flavor has a mellow graininess to it at first. But then a lemony acidity cuts through it a bit, bringing with it some fruity tones like banana, pineapple, plum, and some dark tart tones. The fruitiness is kind of hard to describe; it isn’t like the overt esters in many beers. It is very subtle. There is a blanket of warm earthiness that lies over the whole mouth. Very pleasant. It brightens up a bit in the finish, with some orangey citrus notes. This is a very enjoyable beer.

Yesper, JK, hellomynameis and others put together one hell of a sampler for us. Perhaps not what I was expecting, but a very drinkable beer nonetheless. Light grainty aroma with some wheaty tones. Solid grainy malt body with light hops and a very smooth finish.

Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aromas of citrus, passion fruit and a special yeast that is unfamiliar to me. Flavor is spicey and dry. A very fine Begian blonde.
