Commercial Description:
Westvleteren Blond is the basic beer for the monks’ own consumption, since 1999, when the former 6° dark ale (red cap) was finally discarded, after the 4° had already gone that path.

bottle was ’out-dated’ by 5 months...a cloudy yellow beer with a white head...earthy yeasty aroma that reminded me of the smell of the air in watou. delicate malty sweetness balanced with hops.

Thanks MikeTD bringing this straight back from Belgium. Hazy blonde, medium white head. Aroma is biscuity and banana. Flavor is funky, grainy, biscuits, lemon, banana. Not a whole lot going on. It’s pretty much a belgian version of a lager. Noble hops are definitely their, but not much else going on. But just cause it’s Westy doesn’t mean it’s all mighty.

Bottle from theisti (I believe as Secret Santa, muchos gracious). 700th Rating split with a friend.
Appearance: Pours with the most thick golden color, so much light, yet so little clarity. A strong medium sized head with a very sticky lacing.
Aroma: Strong with coriander-like yeastiness, Very spicy, yet airy, brisk feel, stings the nose a bit. Some muted floral and honey aspects as well.
Flavor: Taste is light sweetness, think lemon with the citrus. Lots if herbal-yeastiness. Some light esters and a very organic-earthy feel throughout.
Mouthfeel: Very presently felt on the cheeks and a full medium body, yet there are light carbonation spikes on the cheeks. Very nice dichotomy.
Extras: Leaves a long light herbal aftertaste. Bottle cap is 05 08 09 I believe, very hard to read. Really surprised how nice this is, thickness of the beer made me think it would weight in at a higher abv. I also want to add Tim’s sentiments when he wrote "There is something delicious about this beer that just hangs in your mind." 330ml bottle, Hobgoblin tulip glass.

My 700th!!: Pours a hazy golden color with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy, herbal, citrus, and some honey. Flavor is very spicy, herbs, a hint of honey, with a light bitter finish.

2/24/05 330ml. Belgianshop. Golden with massive white head. Citrussy, grassy aroma. A little thin on the palate but with nice bitterness and refreshing taste.

tasting night 2 days ago. rating on an overall beer. nice easy drinking belgian ale. kind of expecting more from this, but its good at what it does. very good. rating this on a belgian ale scale vs. other belgians would make it one of the best.

Bottle sampled with a few friends. Pours a nice golden color with a big creamy head. Sweet aroma with some spice and bread. Flavor of fruit, malt, spice, with some hops. Great beer for its style.

Pale blond colour. Massive yeasty aroma with some hop present too. Flavour is dry and quite hoppy and just a hint of spiciness. There’s only a slight acidity to this beer. The finish is rather dry, perhaps too dry. Overall though the taste is pure and clean.
