Commercial Description:
Westvleteren Blond is the basic beer for the monks’ own consumption, since 1999, when the former 6° dark ale (red cap) was finally discarded, after the 4° had already gone that path.

Clear pale golden color, big white head. Fresh citrus and yeast scent, also spicy. Yeasty spicy taste, rather powerful. Smooth but still medium mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. Slightly metallic but mostly spicy and yeast aftertaste.

Clear golden color, white fast dissapearing head. Initially quite hoppy scent, followed by sweet malt, then spice and yeast. Lots of esters and phenoles. Hoppy herbal and floral taste with some pommerance and spices. Very fresh and summery, herbal and bitter aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with some moussy, spritzy notes. Medium high, ratehr dry, bitterness. Quite dry bitter finish with herbal and spicy hints that linger.

Appearance: Pours a beaming straw-colored body with a bright white, head. Smell: Aroma is chock full of vibrant fruity esters as well as some faintly grassy, citrus notes. Taste: Skillfully crafted, this beer is rich and full of flavor. Initial tartness gives way to a light malty, slightly bready sweetness. Also there is the pronounced taste of peaches and oranges - like an albariño, but with a more pronounced, sharper carbonation. Finishes dry with just a touch of spiciness. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and is quite crisp, marked by a constant, but fine champange-like carbonation. Drinkability: Outstanding. This beer is the greatest invention since wood.

Bottle courtesy after4ever. Thanks Tom! Pours a clear bright gold with a huge white head. Great malty aroma with a lightly flowery fruit note behind it. Light body and carbonation. Taste of biscuit, yeast, malt, and a touch of fruit. Crisp and lightly bitter finish.

330. Pours murky golden coppery amber with humongous thick bubbly white head. Plenty of clingy lace, though it’s very intermittent. Big nose of grass and straw. Tiny bit of funk in there too. Moderate body and carb, but the attack is flavorful enough to be fairly forceful even so.. Mid-palate has some more of the grass and straw, along with some earthy, and herbally bitter hops that carry through to a nice lingering finish. Delectable. Thanks, Maria!

33 cl bottle courtesy fonefan, cap dated 29.04.07. Hazy pale yellow gold with a fully lasting rich creamy and frothy white head. Yeasty, light perfume, fruity, and lightly candyish aroma. Crisp biscuity malt flavours with a floral, perfumed, orange blossom and herbal bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, soft but dry and refreshing mouthfeel. Like a "Duvel Light" or even Orval minus the brett. Very good stuff.

Bottle @ In de Vrede, Westvleteren. Dense and creamy two finger head over a slight hazy, peach-colored body. Pleasant fruit aromas; tropical, yellow apples, melon, sweet citrus and banana-split. Lots of floral hops and some yeasty notes. Taste is very well balanced, both mellow and crisp, with a soft maltiness, and a light astringent fruity flavor. Mild bittering hops with a fruity acidity throughout the finish. Smooth and refreshing. An excellent Blonde!
