The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as a light touch of spices and honey. The flavor is sweet with notes of honey, malt, and caramel as well as light notes of bread, leading to a dry ans slightly bitter finish. More complex than your usual Oktoberfest. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Pours a very foggy orange-ish brown. No head in my Duvel tulip. Nose is slightly leafy. Very little to it. Flavor is even and constant with a slow drop off. Profile has a obvious leafy thing going on. Beyond that it’s a very mild almost citric thing. More like the flavor of an orange with absolutely no sweetness from it. More like old almost dead orange outer skins. Okay. Enough typing out of my ass. Feel is decent. Low bubble hitting my tongue. Liquid is decent. Overall this is a very easy drinker. Nothing wild or crazy. Just a smooth and even brew. Worth a shot. Dorwart (1829), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Thin head with decent carbonation. Soft malts and earthy notes in the aroma. Little bit of spices also. Color is a hazy dark mahagony brown.
Sweet malty flavor with a bit of sourness. Lively in the mouth. Bit of dryness and tartness. I believe that this bottle is kind of old so it may have turned a bit. Finishes malty and sweet. I would not put this in the marzen category. Needs much more bready malts in the body. porterhouse (1163), Alna, Maine, USA

Aroma is malt, kind of vanilla and caramel-like, maybe some hints of light piney hops. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth with light prickliness. Spotty, patchy light lacing. Flavor is medium-light maltiness, light notes of caramel, vanilla and pumpkin with a very light piney bitter hit through finish. OK but pretty dull.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Pours a light brown/amber color. Faint, slightly hoppy, grassy aroma. Sweet-smelling. Tastes sweet, but a bit flat, especially at the end. Very, very light. Fairly generic oktoberfest (or autumnfest). Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA

Nose is of nuts, fruits, and light hops. Initial taste of strawberry candy, light roastiness and touch of nuts. Finishing with a light bitter hops. Palate duration is average, light to medium body. Dry finish. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 27, 2007 12oz bottle, courtesy of my dad. Pours a bright, clear orange color; yellowish head with good, fluffy retention and decent lacing. Some maple syrup and butterscotch in the aroma; one-dimensionally sweet, but nice. Mouthfeel follows the nose: medium, sticky sweet body, with butterscotch, dried fruits, and a hint of bland citrus; a bit of doughiness comes through at mid-palate and in the finish. Overall an underwhelming example of the style.
