I have to say I’m not a big fan of Oktoberfest season, since I’m not crazy about the one-dimensional Marzen-style beers which are pumped out by every micro-brewey this time of year and which overtake every shelf of the beer store and several taps of every fine ale house, to the detriment of better all-year brews which they could have ordered instead. Nonetheless, I had some hope for this one since I appreciate Weyerbacher and since this was labled "Autumnfest Ale" as opposed to "Octoberfest lager." Alas, more of the same. Though this has an attractive clear amber color with a lasting head and fuller palate, there is the same basic, unexciting malty aroma and flavor of most Octoberfests. The elevated ABV may be a bonus for Halloween parties. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Bottle. Pours out a reddish orange color without much of a head at all. Smells malty and sweet, with a touch of fruitiness in the nose. Taste is sweet and rich, pretty smooth and very easy to drink. I was expecting worse, but actually this is a halfway decent beer. Id probably drink some more of it if given the chance. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Pours copper-amber with a thin tan head. Smells like tea, caramel, Vienna and Munich malts. Interesting herbal flavor with the Vienna and Bavarian malts clearly there. Flavor was toasty with a descent hops presense. Palate is pretty thick surprisingly. Pretty nice Oktoberfest. bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Taste is malty, average body, clean finish. No distinguishing characteristcs here. Better oktoberfests out there. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 22, 2006 Tan to red, clear with a thin white head. Big malty aroma, grape nuts and plumbs. Huge malty flavor as well, almost too malty. A touch of spicey hops in the finish, flavor lingers. Full bodied, thick and velvety. A little too heavy in the mouth, almost sweet. Good, but I think there’s just too much munich malt. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

"Poured a nice golden color with a fluffy head. Aroma was very citrusy. For Flavor was very hoppy more so then other for this style. Aftertaste was more IPAish with grapefruit in there. I enjoyed this one just not sure if its in the right style." hiphops (280), caldwell, New Jersey, USA
