Commercial Description:
AutumnFest is Weyerbachers own unique twist on the German Oktoberfest style. Copper-amber in color, AutumnFest is made with Vienna and Munich malts for that authentic, Bavarian easy drinking taste. Each sip imparts a wonderful roastiness of malt on the tongue followed by a smooth, consistent finish. Wonderfully balanced with a clean, velvety, slightly fruity taste, AutumnFest is the perfect beer for the Fall- a nice transition between the lighter beers of summer and the darker, heavier winter brews. It is a favorite of many Weyerbacher aficionados, who anticipate the end of summer with this wonderful beer. Weyerbacher AutumnFest (ABV 5.4%) is generally available in stores August through December. Pick up a case to celebrate the change of seasons. Prost!

On tap at Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a slightly dark golden color with thin white head. Aroma is faint but notes of malt, fruit, and bread are predominant. Flavor is slightly sweet, slightly malty with some fruit notes. Light body with an immediate fade. No finish whatsoever. Strange.

9/26/2007: Weyerbacher Autumn Fest just seems blah. The aroma is moderately malty with a sweet edge to it. The flavor has toasty malts and brings to mind dry leaves. It does have a pretty good-looking pour consisting of a pale brown color and a lasting beige head. It has a medium body and grainy texture. Decent overall.

Sample(s) from 12 fl. oz. bottles shared at the September 2007 Jundale Beerklub Tasting. Thanks! Rating #285 for this beer.

11/12/08 notes: bottle. Pours a clear orange with medium-sized head. Aroma of caramel malt, bread, nuts and soda cracker. Flavor was very similar. Predictable, sub-par, and stylistically confused. What is this trying to be? It is not malty (nor complex) enough to be an Oktoberfest or quality Amber, but does not have the hop presence of APAs. Instead, I tasted soda cracker saltiness, with soft malt and grain. I am surprised that Weyerbacher would brew such a misguided beer.

I’m a bit late for the season, but I love a good o’fest. Copper/red pour with a large, frothy tan head. Aroma is bready, musty and has a hint of vegetable. Slightly sweet taste, malty with more bread/dough flavors. Very crisp and slightly fruity on the back-end. Tasty and refreshing.

Pours clear copper with tan head. The aroma has some roasted malts rolled into a ball of mild caramel, nuttiness then a touch of vegetable hoppiness. The taste pans out nearly the same as the aroma but includes a water thin body and similar lack of depth. I get mild roasted malts, crystal malts mixing with faint stale caramel, some nuttiness and a murmur or two of dark fruity esters of cherries and prunes. So so.

Tap at Mellow Mushroom...pours amber w/ some red highlights, thin, off white head that fades quickly and leaves behind very little lacing. The aroma was sweet malts, doughy yeast, florals, and dried fruits. The flavor heavily leaned towards the malts with some bready notes, caramel, and the dried fruits. Thin palate but it also had a bit of stickiness towards the back. Very little hop bite, but it was there. Very enjoyable...

12oz bottle. Pours a deep coppery orange with a very slight haze and a thin, short-lived, white head. The aroma is very bready with some notes of toasted bread and a subtle sweetness. The flavor follows the aroma: grainy with bread and toast flavors and a subtle malt sweetness. In the middle there is a cracker-like breadiness with a soft, spicy hop bitterness. The finish is grainy with subtle notes of dark-toasted bread, burnt caramel, and a balanced level of floral/fruity noble hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is brisk and strongly carbonated, giving way to an unexpectedly thin body (thin for a 6.1% lager). Overall, a fairly mediocre lager. I was really hoping for something great (perhaps it’s just me: I’ve been really disappointed by all Oktoberfest lagers I’ve tried this year I think...).
