Commercial Description:
AutumnFest is Weyerbachers own unique twist on the German Oktoberfest style. Copper-amber in color, AutumnFest is made with Vienna and Munich malts for that authentic, Bavarian easy drinking taste. Each sip imparts a wonderful roastiness of malt on the tongue followed by a smooth, consistent finish. Wonderfully balanced with a clean, velvety, slightly fruity taste, AutumnFest is the perfect beer for the Fall- a nice transition between the lighter beers of summer and the darker, heavier winter brews. It is a favorite of many Weyerbacher aficionados, who anticipate the end of summer with this wonderful beer. Weyerbacher AutumnFest (ABV 5.4%) is generally available in stores August through December. Pick up a case to celebrate the change of seasons. Prost!

12 oz bottle from Spirits Toms River. Pours an orangey/amber with an average size fizzy light beige head. Aroma is not good, but I am having a hard time placing my finger on it. Notes of indeterminant spices, light orange flavored chocolate, plasticy caramel...like a badly scented plastic toy. Medium bodied with slightly strong carbonation. Malt forward flavor with caramel and biscuit in the front and some nuttiness and slight spice towards the end. Very forgetable beer, sure am I glad I bought a sixpack of this winner, ugh.

Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head that settles to a thin film. The aroma consists of toasted caramel and some earthy hops. The flavor follows suit with the toasted caramel dominating with some earthy hops and spices in the background. Medium bodied, but a touch thin with subtle carbonation and easy drinkability. The finish is crisp and slightly bitter. This one has a decent sweetness to the flavor, but not much else going on. A decent little fest beer.

Bottle: Poured a medium amber color lager with an average head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of dry caramel hops with no discernable hops or many other characteristics. Taste is also dominated by some dry caramel malt. I know this is not the most extreme style out there and it is meant to be drank in large quantities but this one was just a bit too average in all aspects.

Bottle->lager: Pours an average, frothy, diminishing head that exhibits good lacing atop a hazy and lightly cloudy amber body. Light aroma of burnt malt and light pumpkin aroma along with nutmeg. The body is light, the texture is thin and oily, flat carbonation, and a chalky finish. The flavor’s duration is short and lightly bitter. A forgettable beverage.

(Bottle). Semi-sweet malty aroma, touch of fruity bite. Dark orange-golden with small head. Flavor is malty and a touch on the sweet side, but well balanced. Malty finish.

The appearance is typical for the style, an orange/red color with a white head. The aroma is less sweet and more musty and earthy than expected. The flavor is a little boring; some malt sweetness with a small presence of hops. the finish is identical. One of the more boring fall beers out there. BTW, the label says that this is an ale. If so, this cannot be a marzen.
