Commercial Description:
Weyerbacher Belgian Dubbel is a wonderfully complex abbey-style beer that is sure to satisfy the desires of any aficionado. We brew our Belgian Dubbel with Belgian malts, Belgian candi-sugar, and special Belgian yeast strains and then add French oak chips during fermentation. These premium ingredients combined with our brewers' monk-like patience result in a beer with authentic old-world taste and character.

This beer rocks. Weyerbacher Brewing Co. is the best thing that ever happened to Easton... with the possible exception of Sheena.

Pours a cloudy brown with a thin tan head. Smells of sugar, processed fruit and wet dog. Tastes of cardboard and sickly sweet. A diabetic’s nightmare.

[2001] Poured a murky purple brown color with a small, light tan head, light lacing on the glass. Aroma of leaher, sherry, sour cherries, a bit of cardboard, and some nuts as well. Taste of light vanilla, old fruit for sure, cherries, lacto bacteria, with a lengthy sour finish. Certainly seems to have become lambicish, and it wasn’t horrible... Huge thanks to jimmack for sharing this last night, I never thought i’d get to try this!

Pours a hazy amber, yeasty and muddy, with a fizzy head. Aroma is welches grape soda (thanks to RLB for that description), fruity esters, soy, oxidation, sour notes, cardboardy and metallic. More metal in the flavor, phenolic, old fruit, sour- acetic and lactic giving a wierd vinegar hint and a harsh astringent metallic finish. THis was a fun beer to share at a tasting. Thanks Jason!

Strong yeasty nose with some corriander and a little dust. Hazy gold and a fluffy head. Sweetish malt front with some candi-sugar. Tight peppery end - very spicy all around. Medium body, decent balance. Whiff of alcohol at the end too.

20070303 12oz bottle, 2001. Strong boozy berry notes, actually reminds of Leroux Blackberry brandy. Yikes, it’s sour, thin, and plasticy. Obviously not particularly resilient to age, though maybe in a transition. Still, worth a shot to try.
