(Bottle 65 cl) Pours a clear, dark mahogany with a warm, reddish hue. The body is small and beige. Fruity, vinous aroma of roasted malts. Medium body with lots of hard roasted malt but only a vaguely burned touch. Very dry but not particularly bitter. A smooth and pleasant drink though. Courtesy of pineypower. 220207

Bottled. A black beer with a red shine under a fast disappearing brown head. The aroma is acidic from the roasted malt, combined with light notes of licorice. The flavor is slightly acidic from the roasted malt, combined with notes of coffee and soy sauce, leading to a dry and bitter end with strong notes of roasted malt and lesser notes of chocolate. I find the body a bit weak.

Bottle. Pours dark brown almost black, with a thin tan colored head. Aroma is coffee, molasses, roasted malt. Flavor is coffee, molasses, roasted malt, vanilla. Palate is medium, mildly carbonated, rich, creamy, and smooth finish. I think this is great stuff.

Bottle from Shawan Liquors in Cockeysville, MD. Pours black with a big frothy brown head. Aroma of molasses, expresso, and roast. Medium light texture and some lively carbonation. Flavor is pretty basic, mild coffee and roast. Perhaps some licorice hiding somewhere. Finish has some hop bitterness, with a some ashy and old bitter coffee flavors. Nothing too memorable here, perhaps a bit disappointing considering they make Heresy, Double Simcoe, and Insanity.

Poured a dark black. Large brownish head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and soapiness. Flavor of roasted malt, possibly some vanilla. Wasn’t a big fan of the mouthfeel.

22 oz bottle via Ohiodad (thanks!). Pours as black as a black hole should pour! Small tan head. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, sherry. Tastes just like it smells with a vinous sour apple finish. High carbonation. medium body. Would be much better with less carbonation and less sourness.

Black with a tan head. Lots of excess alochol in the aroma. With that much alcohol showing I was expecting a lot more from this beer, the roastiness was much more mild and the body was very thin. Slight mineral finish really hurt this beer as well. Had a nice chocolate and coffee taste, but the flavor just couldn’t sustain due to the light body and mineral taste which left the palate wishing for more from this one.
