Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Heavy chocolate and tart fruit aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium dark sweet flavor with medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid complex beer that would go well with a good after dinner cigar.

Thanks to Dorwart for the brew!

Rating from last nights notes, as I was out on my patio and watched the sun go to rest; I drank this lovely beer and enjoyed a new favorite of a cigar, Gurkha’s Ancient Warrior… It was a wonderfully tranquil and satisfying experience!

The beer poured an opaque maduro black. The aroma was large and chocolaty; with a hint of leather, mocha, and coconut. The flavor was well built. A rich creamy palate held tight as the beer warmed and came alive. A lovely compliment to a fine stogy!

22 oz bomber ... poured midnight black with a nice cascade into a 1/4-inch foam barrier. Big molasses aroma that wafted across the room to terrorize my olfactory senses. Sweet and churning in my stomach, this isn’t as big in flavor as I’d feared. Instead, it’s light on the tongue. Mellows even more as you go into a sweet vanilla-y beer.

From a twelve-ounce bottle, pours a slightly red dark brown color with minimal head. Nose has some of that awful Weyerbacher house yeast, some molasses and maple syrup, and some charcoal. Flavor is similar, with more of the maple (bad maple) and molasses flavors, and a bad vanilla-extract flavor as well. Probably one of the better Weyerbacher beers, but a porter it is not.

12 oz. bottle via trade with Ty5592 - Pours a dark brown color with a good size tan head. Nice lacing. Has a roasted, chocolate malt aroma and flavor. Has just enough bitterness for balance. Very smooth, medium to full body beer. This is a good beer. Thanks Ty.

Pours deep brown with a sizable head. Aroma is roasty but subtle. Flavor is loaded with roast, chocolate and bits of coffee. Little to no hops. Alcohol is nicely masked. Mouth feel is a somewhat light for a beer of this size.

Poured a dark brown to black color with a nice thick tan head and great retention, very nice head, great lacing. Looking good. The aroma was coffee, a little chocolate. The flavor was coffee, chocolate, astringent sugars, nothing special here, although not bad. The mouthfeel was carbonated.
