12 oz bottle: pours black with a big tan head that retains through the whole brew and leaves some lacing on the glass. aroma is chocolaty and roasty with some hops in the background. Very rich flavor lots of roastiness, coffee, chocolate, and I suspect fuggles that really give it a great finish. Quality porter, surpraised that it has not been rated better.

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours black with a decent sized tan head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, citrus, dark fruit. Flavor is smooth, chocolate, roast, citrusy dark fruit. Great body, great brew.

Rich porter, chocolaty coffee aroma. A very good porter. Finishes with a slight hoppyness but not over done.

Sweet vanilla aroma, some hints of roasted malts. "Blacker than a steers tuckas on a moonless prarie night!" Sweet vanilla, which fades to chocolate, some roasted coffee, malty, then alittle hops in the background, then back to smooth vanilla, and roasted malts. One of my new favorite porters!

Very dark brown drink. Very thin head that dissipates quickly. No lacing. Great nose. Big roasted malt smell. Dark chocolate, slight caramel, a hint of alcohol... it smells a bit like a porter. When I first poured it, I smelled some sort of wine. I don’t know wines so I can’t tell what type it was but it smelled slightly of wine. This brew is so smooth and creamy. Delightful feeling but the immediate tastes aren’t much better than average (hence the rating). The taste is actually a bit bland. There’s a hint of roasted malt and a slight alcohol twang but that’s about it. There’s far more flavor in the finish than while the beer is in the mouth. Big roasted flavor on the palate. Slight hoppy balance but not much. Very dry feeling leftover. Cheaper alternative to some old ales but I don’t know that I’ll go out of my way to get this one again.

Bottled. Pours nice and dark with a creamy tan head. Has a nice dark roasted falvor. Gets darker and more coffee-like at the finish. Some chololatey falvors as well.

Thanks Jeremy for getting this for me from the brewery! Pours a deep dark color with a formidibile tan head. Roasted malt and coffee spring from the aroma. A hint of dark chocolate as well. Nice roasted flavor! Kind of smokey. Roasted malt, and once again a hint of dark chocolate. A rather nice porter!

22 oz bottle from Stateline Beverage in Elkton, MD (April 2006), angrily and viciously gulped from a St. Ambroise glass at cellar temperature. Evil-looking quite nearly opaque villanous black body, thick lasting dark tan cap topping it....vinous, darkly malty aroma, dark and milk chocolates blending with licorice and cold coffee grounds....roasty malts, some burnt/ashy characteristics, lightly sour wine and touches of molasses/raisins in the body, which is moderately full and a bit overcarbonated....some sour/tart cherries evident towards the finish. Overall slightly too sour and grapy for me, but certainly a drinkable and acceptable porter....like most I’ve had from this brewer, feels like a near-miss.
