750 ml three year old bottle courtesy of Greg at Birreria Paradiso. Black, very black. Roasted coffee and bitter chocolate flavor with a hint of liquorice in the background. Nice one.

Pours a dark brown topped by a half inch of lasting tan foam. Smells of cocoa, ginger, and a hint of anise. The flavor is mostly bitter chocolate, some coffee, and burnt sugar. Body is a bit thin. The roasted bitterness in the finish lasts as well as some of the best IPAs. A fairly interesting take on the robust porter style.

22 oz bottle **Summary** - At $2.99 for a bomber I was willing to take the risk with this one. The worst case scenario was that I moved on to something more interesting. As it turns out Weyerbacher has a safe beer here without their trademark booziness. Nothing fancy it was worth what I paid but little more. **Aroma / Appearance** - A compact head bobbed above the murky black base. Within was the smell of a bowling alley ash tray, rubber, and powdered cocoa mix. Lighter than I expected it was actually halfway decent. **Flavor / Palate** - Smooth but smoky it tasted of raisins and molasses. Pretty drinkable until the chalky finish it has no major flaws. At the same time it has very little to offer which means it falls squarely in the "average" camp.

Courtesy of Naka. Pours Black with fizzy, dark khaki head. Nose of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and mild hops. Taste is chocolaty and caramel goodness with some roasted astringency. Fruit finish, raisin and apple with a touch of cherry mingled with a smooth chocolaty velvet feel. Pretty tasty. An "old ale" not so much, but tasty none the less. More of an Imperial Porter.

12oz from bmartin08. Dark cola pour with minor mocha head. Nose of molasses. Taste is rather mild with a touch of sweet-fruit skunk ending quickly with a bit of bitter caramel.

12oz Bottle. Subtle salty roast aroma. Light chocolate. Pours a deep black, with a khaki rim above. Flavor is a subtle salty roast, backed with molasses residual tang. Some certain metallic character. Foamy. Mild flavored. Not as much intensity as I would have expected. Some nice light caramels and cream. Generally a decent porter with respectable flavor, decent body and cleanliness. Not as much bubble gum and residual sugar as I’m used to from Weyerbacher, thankfully. Quaffable.

Black color with very nice dark brown head. Very nice scent with lots of different tones in there. It was a little bit tart for a porter. Not sweet like some are, just kind of bitter.
