What a grand treat while hosting the U10 soccer slumber party---just the right taste, amount and nose to take off the edge...but not too telling or strong! Dark chocolate aroma with plums creamy testure sweet finish. Very nice indeed. The label is weird and assuming.

Bottle. Very dark black with froathy brown head. Aroma is chocolaty with coffee. Taste is sweet malty chocolate with dark fruit. Good stuff.

Pours an opaque dark brown with tinges of auburn peeking through. Thin brown head. Smells chocolatey, roasted cocoa, lightly smoky. Tastes of sweet roasted malt, Sweet milk chocolate, light cocoa bean with a bitter dark chocolate type finish. Full bodied with a smoky aftertaste. Nice stuff. Old ale? Old Ale channeling Milk Stout I say.

22 oz bomber. Pours a very dark brown, just shy of black with a nice light brown head. Aroma heavy on roasted malt, with notes of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is of burnt malt, molasses, caramel, and minimal amount of bitterness. Some oxidation noted in this bottle as well, but not enough to distract away from the flavor. On the palate, rather thin with a nice roasted malt and coffee finish. Lively carbonation on this one detracts from the flavor and doesn’t let it shine enough. An OK beer, but not one of my favorites from Weyerbacher.

It pours a thick black with a fading chocolate head. Smells of smoke, candy and coffee. The taste is smooth and clean and is dominated by a sweet coffee flavor. It was quite enjoyable after I let it sit in my fridge for a little over a month.

Pours nearly opaque, topped with a thick brown head which diminished pretty quickly. Aroma is sweet with lots of molasses, caramel, and a touch of roasted coffee. Flavors of bittersweet chocolate, mocha, and an everpresent roastiness. Finish is dry and crisp, with a slight sourness at the end. The amount of carbonation is perfect - making for a smooth mouthfeel. There may be better porters out there, but I found this to be quite quaffable despite it’s slightly elevated ABV. Nicely done.

Out of a bottle. Finally got my hands on this one which is odd since they’re a local brewer. Aroma of roast malts not real strong. Poured a nice deep almost black with a thin tan head. Flavor was good, roast malt, chocolate just a tinge of smoke. Palate was about average. I liked it.

Oily black. Smooth, creamy and soft mouthfeel. Flavors of milky-sweet chocolate followed by a pinch of sourness. Slight hint of smoke and a roasted bitterness. Good, but it seems to be lacking some depth.
